So, I didn't get a spot in the homestay program in the fall.
Boo.
They sent an email a while ago informing all exchange students that there weren't enough spaces to accommodate everyone who wanted to participate in homestay, so they asked people to choose the dorms if they weren't sure if they were prepared to adjust and devote time to a homestay program. Of course, I was intent on following through with it.
They probably chose based on a first come/first serve basis when it came to applications. Since the people here didn't send out my applications on time (even though I had them done well in advance), I was probably screwed from the beginning. >:/
Oh well, even though I'll be in the dorms, there are still opportunities for speaking partners and having a family on the weekends. I guess I should just be glad that I get to have the opportunity to study in Japan at all.
I'm still a bit bummed though.

New haircut.
It's the closest I'll get to getting my mohawk back before I leave for Japan. Yeah.
Aside from that, Boy and I finally got around to watching Repo! The Genetic Opera. Win...pure and simple. I was totally unaware that Yoshiki worked on it. Heh~
Oh, and I got teeth drilled today. Joy.

Went to Utica yesterday and stayed with someone from RIT so I could run the Boilermaker 15k again this year (that's 9.3 miles for you imperial systemites). The schedule ended up going kind of like this:
6 AM - get up, eat sorta stretch a little
7 AM - Leave for the start line
Stand in the bathroom line for 25 minutes
8 AM - Start running
9 AM ish - Finish running
9:30 AM - Start drinking free beer
10:30 AM Moderately intoxicated
Noon - Leave for CT
1:30 PM - Sober again
3:30 PM - Hangover
7:00 PM - Perfectly fine
So I now can tell you from experience that it's pretty weird to be drunk in the morning, but somewhat convenient since you can recover all in one day without losing all that much productivity. Also, somehow it doesn't seem to affect me quite so much after running. Either way, I don't really plan on doing that again, but it was sorta fun once.
In other news, my 15K time last year for Boilermaker was 76 minutes according to my watch. At Spring Forward this year (truthfully a harder course), I dropped that to about 70 minutes although I felt pretty bad at the end of that race. My goal this time was to finish in the top ten percent of the field. I ended up dropping TEN minutes compared to my time last year, and landed at 65 minutes! By chip time, it was 891st out of 10583, solidly in the top ten percent. Somehow.
This seems like a good place to record information, so for personal reference almost more than anything, here are my mile splits from my watch before I reset it tomorrow:
1 - 7:20
2 - 7:09
3 - 7:15
4 - 7:34 (uphill)
5 - 6:32 (downhill)
6 - 6:57
7 - 7:28
8 - 6:47
9 - 7:00
last 0.3 miles - 1:51
And of course the 60 or so ounces of beer more than made up for the energy expended with that whole running business. Umm, ooops.

We got back last night. I really did not miss this humidity. Boo.
Anyway, Boy and I had a good time...even though most of it was spent in the car (Boy driving, me navigating)...though, it's really hard to spend a week between AZ and CA without doing that. Highlights? I got to see Steffi...that was great <3. Boy and I got topped and beaten by two hot dommes (yeah, wrap your head around that one: me...being topped). We saw a Lip Service fashion show. Boy and I explored LA and realized that it's not a city made for exploration (streets there do NOT make sense!). I finally met ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) nephthysh3. Boy killed two lizards (Squishy the Luggage Lizard and Scuttles the Blacktop Pancake Lizard :(...you monster!), we got pulled over right outside of Phoenix (in Surprise) for not noticing the 1/2 mile 65 to 45 mph speed reduction due to the fact that people might be crossing the freeway in the middle of the desert at 11 p.m. (yeah...it's a bit ridiculous). And Boy, Shaina, and I got some new tattoos from an awesome place.
Yeah, that was pretty disjointed, but I'm not too good at recapping such long periods of time. Make do with some piccies:

Yep. So I'm home. Yay. Back to routine...until Japan!
